On Monday, AI leader OpenAI announced the launch of ChatGPT Enterprise, a version of ChatGPT tailored for large businesses, thereby intensifying the competition between OpenAI and its sponsor, Microsoft.

ChatGPT Enterprise provides enhanced security, privacy, and faster access to OpenAI's technology, according to the company. Early adopters of the new technology include Block, Carlyle, and Estee Lauder Companies.

The release of consumer-focused ChatGPT in November prompted a surge in the use of generative AI technology for everyday tasks like writing and coding, reportedly reaching 100 million monthly active users by January.

In spite of discouragement from employers, a Reuters/Ipsos poll revealed that several US residents have used ChatGPT for professional tasks. OpenAI aims to reassure employers about the safety of ChatGPT usage in workplaces with the launch of the enterprise version.

While Microsoft offers business users access to ChatGPT via its Azure OpenAI Service, it is a requirement that the businesses are Azure customers to use the service. However, according to OpenAI, a subscription to Azure is not a prerequisite for the use of ChatGPT Enterprise. The extent of competition between the two collaborating companies over clients remains unclear, given their history of introducing similar services.
