Netflix, a global streaming giant, has revealed its plans regarding the Apple Vision Pro, the tech giant's upcoming mixed-reality headset. In a departure from the norm, Netflix will not be creating a native app for Vision Pro. Instead, the company will allow its existing iPad app to run unmodified on the headset. This decision has major implications for both Netflix and Apple's new device.

In a recent newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman broke the news of Netflix’s approach toward the Vision Pro. The decision to let the iPad app run as is on the Vision Pro might seem surprising at first. However, it offers a practical solution for developers who may not want to build a new app from scratch. They can either let their iPad apps run unmodified on the device or make specific adjustments for the Vision Pro.

Netflix has opted for the former approach, but it remains unclear whether this decision was a strategic choice or simply a matter of convenience. Given the popularity of Netflix's existing iPad app, this decision could potentially allow a seamless transition for users who are already familiar with the app's interface.

While Netflix's decision might seem unusual, it could set a trend for other developers considering their approach to Apple's Vision Pro. It will be interesting to see if other companies follow Netflix's lead or opt to build native software for the new device. Regardless of the route they choose, it's clear that the Vision Pro is shaping up to be a significant platform for multimedia consumption.

As Apple's Vision Pro inches closer to its release, Netflix's strategy will undoubtedly be closely watched by industry observers. Whether this decision will pay off for the streaming giant or not, only time will tell.

We would love to hear your thoughts on this development. Do you think Netflix's decision to run its unmodified iPad app on the Vision Pro is a smart move or should they have developed a native app? Please leave a comment below.
